Why Asheville?
If you’re looking for a place that refuses to fit neatly into a box, Asheville is it. Tucked into the Blue Ridge Mountains, Asheville somehow manages to be equal parts mountain escape, food city, art hub, and offbeat playground – all at the same time. One minute you’re hiking to a panoramic overlook, the next you’re sipping a craft beer that may or may not have notes of citrus, pine, and existential curiosity.
This is a place where street performers feel like part of the city’s heartbeat, where murals outnumber blank walls, and where “normal” has never been the goal. You’ll find James Beard-worthy meals next to dive bars, historic architecture alongside unapologetic weirdness, and a community that leans all the way into creativity. Whether you’re here for a weekend getaway, a bachelorette party, or just passing through on a mountain road trip, we’ve created an itinerary that’s sure to wow any Asheville newcomer.
Where to Stay
Located on the river in the River Arts District and just 1 mile from downtown, the Radical Hotel is a new addition to Asheville in the past few years, repurposing a beautiful warehouse into an upscale and hip boutique hotel you won’t find anywhere else.
Downtown Asheville’s newest hotel has everything you need; Enjoy the rooftop bar and restaurant, relax in a hip and cozy lobby, and walk anywhere downtown in minutes. Plus, it’s located just across the street from the LaZoom Room, your departure point for all LaZoom Tours.
What to Do
You’d be lost without LaZoom… no, literally. Asheville is known for its historic and unique yet sprawling neighborhoods, you’ll need a little help from your friends to learn your way around. Start your trip on a Hey Asheville tour with LaZoom and enjoy sketch comedy by our local performers while you learn Asheville’s rich history. LaZoom boasts an experienced cast coming to Asheville from prestigious backgrounds such as Cirque du Soleil, Second City Chicago, and Groundlings L.A., to name just a few. Learn a little, laugh a lot, and enjoy a few local brews from the LaZoom Room Bar while you do it all.
Blue Ridge Parkway
You haven’t seen Asheville if you haven’t soaked in the views on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Take a drive, let your hair blow in the wind, blast James Taylor and take your top off (if you’re driving a convertible, of course).
Look, we know it’s a hotel, but it’s more than that. Even without a room, the Grove Park Inn is open to the public to explore and experience. Stop for a drink on the back porch and take in the views, book a spa experience, or just lollygag around and pretend you’re F. Scott Fitzgerald, we won’t judge.
River Arts District
Yes, it’s open! The River Arts District (lovingly referred to as RAD) is open and ready for business. Some areas are still rebuilding since Hurricane Helene in 2024, but don’t let that stop you, the artists, restaurants, bars and breweries need you more now than ever!
